Auger & Spade is led by Ryan Hodges, Ph.D., a soil scientist with extensive experience in soil classification, soil morphology, and soil-landscape interpretation.

Ryan combines field- and data-based soil investigation with modern geospatial analysis to better understand soil variability across landscapes. His work applies fundamental soil science to practical questions involving land use, management, development, and research.

Auger & Spade was established to provide technically rigorous, science-based soil characterization services with findings communicated in a clear and useful way.
